Lakeside Academy is a dynamic private school for student-athletes. Our enriched French and English curriculum combines the lessons learned in the classroom with our students’ passion for sports through our core principles: Leadership, Education, Athletics, and Fellowship.
2017 Registration is now OPEN! Time to review your children’s education and athletic development, and reflect upon how Lakeside’s academic and athletic program can accelerate your child’s progress.
Visit our website to find about our program, tuition, admissions, and Open House and Attend a Day events. EDUCATION is our first priority at Lakeside. Our classes never exceed 15 students so that students receive the ONE-on-ONE instruction. We have the most current textbooks, assessments, and learning tools available, including all of our leveled reading books and PM Bench Mark Assessment Tools.
Our curriculum is flexible and student-centered, enabling students to be actively involved by providing multiple ways to access content and express their learning. Lessons involve the use of interactive Smartboards, online resources, activity based stations, group projects, guided reading, and other creative methods of engaging active learning.
ATHLETICS is integral to education at Lakeside. Playing sports develops confidence, leadership, teamwork, resilience, and other important skills that support academic competence. Lakeside is located inside The Barn, a multi-sports facility. Our athletic program includes hockey, lacrosse, golf, soccer, baseball and other sports. The Barn is equipped with one full size rink, one condensed rink, and an indoor turf that is open all year.
Our Director of Hockey Development, Ryan Ramsay, provides one hour of hockey instruction 3 days a week. His development program focuses on skating, puck handling, shooting, and other key skills. Ryan played 5 seasons in the OHL where he was originally selected by the Peterborough Petes. He also represented Ontario at the World Under-17 Tournament. After Ryan’s OHL career he signed a three-year contract with the St. Louis Blues. He played 3 seasons in the AHL and 8 seasons in the German Elite League. Ryan recently was awarded Coach of the Year by the North York Renegades Jr A Hockey Club.
